REFLECTION 9

This is my last reflection regarding to the assignment 1. I hope all of my sharing will be give some benefit to everyone who read. As soon as we entered the class, Mr. David did ask us about our assignment 2 assessment plan template progress and also ask if there is any query about it. Mr. David also told us to prepare ourselves for next week presentation. The requirement of the presentation is just we need to present our assessment plan and the time given is just 3 minutes to give all an opportunity to talk. I had completed my assignment so I just need to prepare a draft of my presentation and get ready to present my speech.

Besides, on this week lecture, we did learn about the outcome and the example of representative behaviour. What I understand from this week lecture is, there is eight (8) outcome involved in this topic. First is skills. The representative behaviour of this outcome is like speaking, writing, and also listening. Second is work habit. The example of behaviour is like the effectiveness of planning and also the use of time. For instance, we all do something for a reason and we did set the time to avoid time waste. We would use the time effectively and efficiently, so the work will be done and submitted on time. Next is, social attitude, scientific attitude, academic self-concept, interest, appreciation, and the last one is adjustment. The outcome above had their own representative behaviour. I will not explain each of it in detail since we all did come to this week lecture and have the notes, so I just want to summarize all of it in one simple sentence. For me, the outcome and the representative behaviour is just a simple basis knowledge where the representative behaviour is just a reflection of what we are doing. For example, for the outcome appreciation, we all did appreciate all of the things happened in our surrounding, the feelings of satisfaction in enjoyment expressed towards something such as music, arts, and etc. Moreover, Mr. David also explain about the procedure of observational technique which is consist of four techniques namely, anecdotal records, self- report, interest inventories, and the last one is personality measure. From these week topics, I completely understand that there is various way to assess the outcome since we are exposed to the representative behaviour and what type of procedure that appropriate to use when we are trying to assess someone. At the end of the lecture, Mr. David did ask all of us what are the today lesson is all about. He did praise all of us for giving attention to the lecture and the class is dismissed.

REFLECTION 8

On this week lecture, Mr. David do explained and brief about the progress of our assignment two which is we need to do an assessment of any subject that we choose. I was still in the level of blurred, and I honestly does not have any idea about the second tasks. Besides, Mr. David do explained about how to construct a rubrics and the requirement of a presentation that will be held on next week.

Besides that, Mr. David also explained about the typical outcome, advantage of interpretive exercise, also limitation of interpretive exercise. From what I understand, interpretive exercise has many advantages such as, interpretive exercise make it possible to measure more complex learning outcome that can be measured with a single objective items. Moreover, interpretive exercise minimized the influence of irrelevant information in the measurement of complex learning outcome. Besides, interpretive also have a limitation. The most and major limitation was the difficulties of construction.

REFLECTION 7

On this week lecture, Mr. David are discussing about performance-based assessment. As soon as Mr. David start to explain about this week topic, I am started to curious about what type of assessment that include in this (performance-based) assessment. After that, I noticed that performance -based assessment require student to start with simple multiple choice/short answer question and then ask for an explanation of the answer. From what I understand performance-based assessment are divided into two, namely, authentic and alternative assessment.

In addition, we were given a "mini" test where Mr. David turn off the slide and we required to write down the content of the slide previously. This is on purpose to identify and measure how far our focus and memory to the explanation just now. For me, it is good for our lecturer for testing us right over the lecture, so that, we would maximized our attention and seek for another explanation to gain extra knowledge about the topic discussed.

I will inserted the picture of  "mini" test that been held on our class, I am not giving too much attention while the lecture started and I gave the wrong answer on that test. Never mind, I would pay attention on the next classes and give better reflection for everyone who read.

REFLECTION 6

On our lecture two days ago, we have been discussing about the construction of a test. The content on the lecture include the importance of selecting appropriate assessment to our respondent. Our lecturer do explained about the type of an assessment, short answer. I will elaborate about the advantages of using short answer. The purposes of selecting short answer is to recall a specific information. Why do we need to use short answer types? It is because, short answer is easier to construct and student itself would giving their own answer, in the other hand, they will use their own sentences to answering the question stated. Moreover our lecturer told us not to construct a question that does not easy to measure. It is important to construct an item that meet the respondent needs. Besides, there is no use of constructing a complex item but the the existence of the items is irrelevant. In addition, our lecturer had distribute a question paper consist of 15 question that need us to evaluate the consistency. We have told to identify whether the question is good or bad. Good refers to the question state a clear and specific topic that need to be asked and bad refers to the question that consist of complex and irrelevant content. This class activity is done in a group and it really make us realized that we need to well-prepared the item before distribute to the respondent to avoid an error.

Example of the activity that we need to complete in class

REFLECTION 5

Based on the fifth lecture, my classmate and I had learn about test construction, multiple-choice test and also competency assessment. I would not talk a lot on this reflection, but we do have discussion about how to construct a test and our lecturer briefly explained about the type of test item such as true-false, short answer, fill in the blanks, essay, and etc. Moreover, our lecturer did ask us about the formative and summative assessment. He simply asked us, if we do an assessment, did we use the summative of formative assessment. In my opinion, both summative and formative should be applied in the learning and teaching process. Depend too much on one or the other and the reality of student achievement of the whole classroom would become unclear. Furthermore, when a comprehensive assessment program at the classroom level balances formative and summative students learning/achievement information, a clear picture emerged of where a students is relative to learning targets and standards. In the other hand, student should be able to articulate this shared information about their own learning.

REFLECTION 4

Based on these week topic, we are exposed to the technique for recording behavior that includes duration that refer to how long the behavior last, frequency that refer on how frequently the behavior occurs, third is interval or time sampling that refers to the targeted behavior of each subject during the set period of time and the last one is continuous that refer to the all behavior of the subject. Moreover, we are gaining knowledge about what questionnaires is, the advantage and disadvantage of using it. Besides, we also learn on how to prepare a questionnaire and the good characteristic of a questionnaires. A good questionnaire are includes, the direction is clear and complete, and it was neatly arranged. Furthermore, to preparing a good questionnaire, it should avoid bias and encourage respondents to answer accurately and the question need to be relevant and it is easy to answer.

What I have learned by completing this topic is, we are exposed on how to deal with a problems with certain question. Besides that, some of a question is prepared without any clear purposes. For instance, the respondent will not know why the question is being asked and it will not make sense for them to seek for the accurate answer because it is difficult to determine what class of questions that being asked. Moreover, we have learn the advantages of applying questionnaire as an assessment to nowadays teaching and learning process. Last but not least, we have been told about the importance of conducting survey research, e.g. interviews which is a ways to examine and evaluating what is appropriate assessment to be held on certain respondents. In addition, by conducting such an interview for a survey research, we would gain efficient data collection to be practice with our respondent and can yield a very accurate results.

REFLECTION 3

What I have learn on the third lecture that held on the 1st March 2016 is reliability an validity of a test. Reliability refers to the consistency of measurement (a test) while validity refers to what extent the measurement is available to measure the outcome of the test. As the lecture going, we had been explained about five type of validity which is covers on how far the assessment could be adopted as an evaluation on students progress.

What I have learn from this topic is, by preparing a suitable test based on the students progress, we would know briefly about their current and upcoming performance. "The richer get richer, and the poor get poorer" quotes indicates that we should have to give equal education to each of the students by considering their strength and weaknesses to avoid low self-esteem. Besides that, all educators need to know on what type of test that they should applied to the teaching and learning process. The importance of having a suitable test is, the teacher will have an opportunity to help children that have a problem with their development.
